As passionate cross-country skiers ourselves we are a proud member of Cross Country Ski Holidays. This means that you enjoy special benefits as well as an excellent service - we are happy to provide top tips for your routes to allow you embark on your dream. 

The network of routes of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena begins quite literally on our doorstep with over 110 km of perfectly groomed trails for both fans of standard cross-country skiing as well as the skating version.

We have been awarded the category "NORDIC FIT" by Cross Country Ski Holidays. As a designated "NORDIC FIT" member hotel we provide special facilities and services to you cross-country skiers. These have to satisfy strict criteria and undergo regular quality checks to ensure the quality management  Q-MTS®. Q-MTS® was specially developed for themed hotels and is certified as per DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 by TÜV Austria cert GmbH.

Since 2014 the Schönruh Sporthotel has been a designated cross-country member hotel by the Tirol Werbung.

Top cross-country skiing region of the Zugspitz Arena

• The Zugspitz Arena features over 110 km of cross-country skiing trails for both skating and classic styles and with loops of various lengths and difficulty to cater all ability levels. FREE access to all trails.
• A free ski bus takes you to the other accesses of the Zugspitz Arena
  Access to trails only 180 m from our front door
• Our hotel is the perfect departure point to access and discover the extensive network of trails in the Moos, connecting Ehrwald to Lermoos and Biberwier
• Man-made snow guarantees a 3 km ski loop on the Golf trail
• Our ski schools offer professional cross-country skiing courses for all skill levels

Simply the perfect outdoor fitness center – no other sport demands so many muscles as cross-country skiing. On top of that, you are in the fresh air.

Laser biathlon in the village of Berwang

• Once a week – on Wednesdays
• Taster courses/personal introduction possible
• Duration: 2-3 hours (incl. introduction)
• Costs: approx. € 19 per person (incl. introduction)
• Equipment: laser gun included; cross-country skies must be provided by yourself

Route proposals

The individual routes are nicely varied, offering the right trail whether you are a novice, recreational or advanced skier. 

As passionate cross-country skiers ourselves we are happy to share our favourite trails with you. Folders and maps are also available at the reception.

Highlight: Moos loop (3,9 km)
This route is easily accessible within a 2 minutes walk from our hotel. A number of trails branch off from the main loop passing by the neighbouring towns.

Hotel equipment for cross-country skiers

• Super large sports storage room with 170 m²:
  automatically locked, equipped with CCTV cameras and racks for cross-country skis
• Heated racks for boots and drying room
• Overnight laundry service for your sports clothes
  is available for a charge of € 4.00 per washing
• Waxing table with waxing table
• Wax for cross-country skis (skating and classic) available at the reception
• X-country skiing corner with maps, current information on the trails' condition and length as well as route suggestions
• Save 5 % on rental rates for X-country skis and on X-country courses at the Tiroler ski school

We are into cross-country skiing ourselves and love gliding through the fantastic winter world of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. So we are perfectly primed for our sporty guests.

We do not only offer the best service for cross-country skiers, but also provide the right facilities for your equipment as well as invaluable tips. Whether it is a route suggestion, expert advice or personal assistance – no matter what you need your host Karyn at the reception is happy to help you out anytime. Angelika at the bar also has a lot of tips and stories to tell.  And these personal impressions and suggestions are precisely the factors that round off your cross-country skiing holiday. Karyn is into the skating style whilst Angelika enjoys leisurely glides on the classic trails. So whether you’re a connoisseur or a sports enthusiast, we surely cater all needs.

Rental of X-country ski equipment

Our partner rental shops Intersport Leitner and Sport Kerber offer top cross country skis and are just a stone's through away. As a Schönruh guest you'll receive a 5 percent discount in both stores.
