Ehrwald, at the foot of the Zugspitze
The municipality of Ehrwald is a lovely resort in the holiday region Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. Ehrwald lies at the foot of the mighty Wetterstein range with the towering Zugspitze close to the border area of Bavaria (Garmisch-Partenkirchen).
The small town of Ehrwald currently has some 2,600 inhabitants.
Ehrwald is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery with the majestic Sonnenspitze and the Mieminger mountain range as well as the Daniel and Grubigstein summits in Lermoos and the Marienberg in Biberwier.
A key characteristic of the villages of Ehrwald, Lermoos and Biberwier is its location on the edge of a beautiful valley basin, consisting of a former moorland, which is partially a natural reserve with arable land and meadows.
The valley basin is ideal for recreational walks and cycling tours in summer. In winter you'll find beautiful walking paths and cross-country skiing trails in the Moos.
